HTC today unveiled the S743, a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and high-speed HSDPA (850/1900 MHz) connectivity.

Featuring a 'faceted' ergonomic design and measuring a mere 1.7 inches wide, the HTC S743 fits comfortably into the palm of the hand. It has a large and bright 2.4-inch QVGA display for reading and responding to email and SMS or accessing the Internet.

With a full QWERTY keyboard, the S743 takes advantage of its messaging options. Running on Windows Mobile 6.1, it has access to Microsoft Exchange as well as personal POP3 and IMAP4 email protocols. Along with SMS and MMS messaging, support for instant messaging standards is included.

The HTC S743, which packs high-design and high-performance into a trim 4.9 ounce package, is a great example of HTC's rejection of a 'one-size-fits-all' philosophy," said Jason Mackenzie, Vice President of HTC America.

The HTC S743 will be available through independent channels in the U.S.
